Ross Local Schools Celebrates Public Schools week with the Ross Ram and cheerleaders smiling at the camera

At Ross Local School Districtwe are proud to join public school districts across Southwest Ohio in celebrating Public Schools Week, February 23–27. This week is an opportunity to recognize the incredible impact public schools have on students, families, and communities—not just here in Ross, but across our entire region and state.

Public schools are woven into the fabric of our communities. In Ohio, more than 1.6 million children attend public schools across 611 traditional school districts. Public schools serve every student who walks through our doors—regardless of background, ability, or circumstance. They are accountable to the communities they serve, governed by locally elected boards of education, and designed to provide opportunity for all.

Here in Ross, we see that impact every day. We serve approximately 2,400 students across five buildings, providing not only a strong academic foundation, but opportunities in the arts, athletics, career-technical pathways, leadership organizations, and service learning. Our schools are more than classrooms—they are gathering places, support systems, and launching pads for future success. Public education does not just prepare students for tomorrow; it supports them in thriving today.

Public Schools Week is also a celebration of partnership. Our schools are strengthened by families who support learning at home, community organizations who invest in our students, local businesses who collaborate with student programs, and alumni who carry their Ross experience with pride long after graduation. Strong public schools help build strong communities—and strong communities, in turn, help sustain strong public schools.

We invite our staff, families, alumni, and community members to join us in celebrating.

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Show your pride. Visit the sites we’ve provided to purchase Public Schools Proud swag, including yard signs and apparel. Display your support proudly in your yard or wear it in our community.

  • Join the conversation on social media February 23–27. Each day during Public Schools Week, we’ll highlight a different theme celebrating public education. We encourage you to engage in the comments—share your story, tag a staff member who made a difference, tell us where you went to school, or reflect on how public schools shaped your journey.

  • Share your impact story. Public schools are built on stories—stories of opportunity, belonging, growth, and achievement. We want to hear yours.

We are proud to be part of a public school system that welcomes every child, serves every family, and strengthens our community. We hope you’ll join us February 23–27 as we celebrate the vital role public schools play—right here in Ross and across Southwest Ohio.
